More Ryan Woodward

OK so maybe not everyone will recognize the previous short I posted but here is the google doodle he did earlier in the year. If you haven't seen both you have been deprived my friend but luckily you have both here!!!

Ryan Woodward! AMAZING

I've seen this awhile back and have no idea why I didnt put this up before. This is a short that Ryan Woodward created. Ryan got together with a choreographer, and with her and a couple of dancers created a short that is just absolutely inspiring. I know for me it pushes me to want to be the best artist I can be. I cant say enough about this see for yourself. If you havent seen this before, Im pretty sure you might of seen the animation he did for a google doodle he created that came out earlier this year on Google.com

When I left AM, I was left with a little bit of bitterness because I didnt submit my work for their showcase. Now it goes with out saying that it doesn't necessarily mean that my work would of been chosen, but I still wish I would of at least tried. So it brings me so much joy to see my work on the Ianimate showcase. I used my regret from AM to push myself to get my work on Ianimates showcase. Thank you so much to Jacob Gardner for his marvelous guidance along with everyone that has helped me get to this point in my animation AM, family, and friends. Thank you all.

Im at the 2 minute mark. A bit blown out from the original one that I submitted but Im still a happy camper!

In and Out anyone???

So how are things...

So far things at ianimate are going pretty cool. Ive been so busy with work, ianimate, and my little guy started preK. It getting the little guy ready for is no easy task. Ive been going to meetings, filling paper work, helping with homework (which my little booger loves...we'll see how long that last lol), getting lunch ready for school, basketball practice, etc... Lots of work!!! On top of that Ive been doing crazy hours at work because of a deadline we had to meet and doing my class work. That equals to very little sleep. But its cool I love being a dad and all the perks that come with it.

Ianimate is going great so far. Now that my schedule is calming down and Im getting use to my new schedule with my little boy going to school, Im hoping to really put a lot more time into the assignments. And starting next week Ill be jobless but Im kind of looking forward to it. More time to animate and spend with my little guy. I need the break. Dispite the crazy schedule Ive been in this month I think my assignment is coming along pretty good but Ill be able to add more spark to it pretty soon. Ill add it to my reel hopefully by the end of next month.

Great Short!

I just saw this short by Justin Burks. I really enjoyed watching this short along with the making of it. So many awesome silhouettes in the 2nd half of the short. As I watched it made think about how much emotion come out through the eyes alone. I need to study eyes like this. I think Justin and his team did a great job conveying this through the simplistic eyes of the characters. Great animation!

Im Surprised I can remember my password!!! lol

Man, its true. Im Surprised I can remember my password!!! As much...better said, as little as I log in. I'm always busy studying, work, or showing my little guy the world (southern cali actually). Well, so what has happen lately? I got a chance to work on Smurfs and Harry Potter!!! So now I have 3 films under my belt but still havent got a chance to be a character animator on a film yet. uuuugh!!! Frustrating at times. Its been tough lately, because the last couple of months Ive kind of strayed away from animation to learn some other things in VFX. Its actually to help me get some more things on my reel and learn more to make myself more marketable in the smaller studios. Plus, Im looking to get a condo so I need the extra cash. BUT... Although, not confirmed yet, I should be joining a new set of students and mentors at iAnimate!!! So keep posted!!! but the way I post maybe check every few months lol.

Man, like I said its frustrating when you're really trying hard to get somewhere but I know as long as I keep working at it Ill get there. Its been hard on me over the past few years and I have gone through some really tough times, toughest times of my life so far. Times I dont wish on others, but at the end of the day I tell myself life isnt easy, its meant to be tough. Once you go through the tough situation it toughens you up and prepares for other things that come your way. You just have to keep your tranquility and keep your dream alive no matter what comes your way!!! I sometimes think great people that make it in life always have great stories to tell, I may never be great but Ill have a story to tell and I hope to be an example of when you keep that dream alive and strive for it that you can make it come true. I remember a few years ago, before I had ever worked in anything in the industry, driving to my internship down the PCH looking at the ocean and just telling myself one day Ill be driving to work. Flash forward a few years and it it happen. Small and simple, not over exciting but inspires me to keep going and hopefully in the future Ill be thinking about when I use to write posts of dreaming of working as a Character Animator for a film.

Brand new year!!!

Well, Ill give a quick in site of whats going down with me. So last year I ended my year working at Blind on a video game trailer. A lot of pressure on that job, being that I was hired as there rigger and then helped out in the animations. The rigging process was the tough part I had only been rigging for less than a year when I got hired and Blind is a pretty prestigious studio in the motion graphics world which I didnt know until I got there. But I got through it and really appreciate being around all the talent and it really helped me grow as an artist.

This year I started my first gig at Buck animating for a couple of days which was cool. Im currently working on my first film. So thats really exciting. Its only for the beginning credits but its one step closer to a full animation feature film which I hope to work on one day. I dont think it has really hit me yet but I cant wait to see it on the big screen. I dont care if I have to go by myself but Im going to go and see it. When I really get deep into it, its an amazing feeling. My work is going to be seen around the world, on the big screen, DVDs, and TV. WOW!!! Maybe not a big deal for others, but c'mon its my first movie!!!

Again, I was hired as a rigger/ animator. I need to be careful though I dont want to get stuck as a rigger. I can appreciate what a rigger does and what it takes to be one because with out rigging theres no animation but Im an animator that happens to know a bit about rigging.

Well, thats my post for today. The best of luck for myself this year as I continue to grow and learn as an artist and keep reaching to become an animator for a feature film.
